    Lansing ----- Tobi Lyon assumed the duties as regional account executive for Adams Outdoor Advertising. Ms. Lyon comes to Adams with a record of achievement and experience in healthcare philanthropy, association management and sales. Ms. Lyon grew up in Meadow, South Dakota and graduated from Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with a degree in Health Service Administration. Prior to joining Adams Outdoor Advertising, Tobi served as director of development for the Sparrow Foundation.

    Detroit ----- One of the most successful loan funds in the state just completed their own major revitalization. The Michigan Interfaith Trust Fund revealed a brand new name and logo at their 25th anniversary gala celebration. The event was hosted by the Detroit Yacht Club on November 19, where attendees acknowledged the Trust Fund's hard work and accomplishments throughout their 25 year history. Surrounded by Board members, staff, supporters, generous donors and investors, the Trust Fund officially became the Opportunity Resource Fund.
  • Lansing Publisher Makes Fashionable DonationNovember 23, 2010
    Lansing ----- Tiffany Dowling's 2010 resolution list is nearly complete. When followers of Capital Area Women's Lifestyle Magazine (CAWLM) first heard of the publisher's plans to donate 30 pairs of shoes to charity in one month, they immediately stepped up to help. Readers began bringing shoes to the magazine's headquarters, and what started as a few pairs soon grew into an entire trunk- load of gently used kicks. Now, more than 100 pairs later, Dowling is cleaning out her closet and making a big holiday donation at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, at Lansing's Hidden Treasures thrift store on Pennsylvania Avenue in Lansing. Don't miss Tiffany making the drive in a 2010 Corvette generously lent by the folks at Shaheen Chevrolet for the special occasion.
  • Completed City Projects Make for a Better LansingNovember 18, 2010
    Lansing ----- With the completion of 2010 Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Control Program projects and other major construction initiatives drawing near, it's easy to see Lansing becoming cleaner, greener and healthier. The city's sewage system saw vast improvements during the 2010 construction season. The CSO Control Program constructed approximately three miles of new sanitary sewer area, four miles of new water main and four and a half miles of reconstructed roadway in two of Lansing's busiest areas.

  • 2nd Annual Festival of Trees Bringing a Forest of Holiday Cheer to the Lansing CenterNovember 12, 2010
    Lansing ----- Businesses, organizations and non-profits are banding together to decorate an entire holiday forest for the 2nd Annual Tri-County Festival of Trees, Dec.3-5 at the Lansing Center. Decorated trees will be raffled off at the end of this family-friendly weekend, with proceeds supporting the decorators' charity or scholarship of choice. The Festival of Trees is a weekend celebration filled with activities for the whole family. The event features full sized and table top trees, a giant gingerbread house, children's activities, live entertainment and much more. The holiday crafters lane is open every day, showcasing the work of more than 30 area vendors and crafters. Attendees can pick up gifts for family and friends, and even bid on unique trees for their home.
  • 26th Annual Silver Bells in the City Rings in Holiday SeasonNovember 11, 2010
    Lansing ----- The entire city will be aglow with millions of lights for the 26th Annual Silver Bells in the City. In addition, the tops of the buildings in the downtown district will brightly light the night sky with tiny white lights and the antique light poles will be festively draped with garlands, red bows, and lighted wreaths. This year brings new activities and special outdoor performances all highlighted by the 14th annual Electric Light parade. The parade steps off at 6:10 p.m., Friday, November 19, from the corner of Washington Ave. and Lenawee. Immediately following the parade, the steps of the State Capitol will sparkle as the State Christmas tree is lighted and then followed by a nine-minute spectacular fireworks display cascading over the capitol dome (weather permitting).
