  • Special Needs Horses Hope for Homes at Sunday Open HouseNovember 2, 2009
LANSING ----- Before the International League for the Protection of Horses Michigan (ILPH-MI) saved him, Comet was tragically neglected by his former owners. The beautiful Arab horse was abandoned on the enclosed property without any food or water. Unable to fend for himself or call for help, Comet's health quickly took a turn for the ultimate worst. He was starved to the bones and completely depleted of the nutrients he needed to survive when the ILPH-MI found him. Comet is one of eight special needs horses currently in the care of ILPH-MI who were nursed back to basic health by the nonprofit organization's dedicated volunteers. While a few suffer from lifelong ailments that require ongoing treatments, most simply need to find an owner willing to dedicate the time and love to train and nurture these horses back to full physical and mental health.
