Timeout for Health
Aitch Foundation Donates $10,000 to MSU HealthTeam during Women's Basketball Game
February 16, 2012
East Lansing ----- In 2012, more than 571,000 Americans are expected to die of cancer; and in Michigan, more than 57,000 new cases of cancer are expected this year.
To combat these staggering numbers, the Aitch Foundation is donating $10,000 to the Michigan State University HealthTeam Thursday, Feb. 23 during a media timeout at the women's basketball game. The funds - which were raised during last year's Aitch Foundation Hidden Key Fashion Show - will go toward hidden cancer research and detection.
Lauren Aitch, former MSU women's basketball player, Lansing native and President and founder of the Aitch Foundation, teamed up with the Michigan State University HealthTeam for the 2011 Aitch Foundation Hidden Key Fashion Show. Proceeds from the event helped make the check donation possible.
"We're so happy to be able to collaborate with the MSU HealthTeam," said Aitch. "Early detection of hidden cancers is something that is very important to us all, and to be able to begin to fund this type of research is incredible."
The MSU HealthTeam is comprised of teaching faculty from MSU's College of Human Medicine, College of Osteopathic Medicine and College of Nursing. Approximately 200 physicians and nurse practitioners serve as members.
"The Hidden Key Fashion Show was a big success last year, and we're very fortunate to be able to make this donation to such a great organization," said Aitch. "We're looking forward to another great event this year, and encourage everyone to come to the show and have a great time for a good cause!"
This year's Hidden Key fashion show will take place Friday, May 18 at the Spartan Club Stadium Suites.
The Aitch Foundation was established to fund research focusing on early detection devices and techniques that save lives. By combining the unique passion for cancer research, fashion and athletics, the Aitch Foundation continues to work to fund cancer research through community support and fundraising efforts. One hundred percent of the proceeds raised from the Hidden Key Fashion Show are earmarked for early detection of hidden occult cancers. Learn more at www.aitchfoundation.com.
