Third Annual Student Art Exhibition Makes a Splash ... of Color

High School Student Artists Need Your Votes

February 15, 2010

LANSING ----- Brighten your February with a splash of color by visiting the third annual Student Art Exhibition at the Michigan State University Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) headquarters in East Lansing.

"The artwork of this year's collection demonstrates the remarkable vision and talent of our youth. The variety and depth is beyond what I could have imagined," said April Clobes, MSUFCU vice president of marketing and e-commerce.

The public is invited to come out to MSUFCU to view the artwork themselves and vote for their favorites to help determine the People's Choice Award. Votes will also determine a School Spirit Award, given to the high school that draws the most voters, regardless of the artwork they vote for.

A panel of judges will also determine a Juried Award and 10 Honorable Mentions. This year's judge panel includes Jane Aldrich, evening news anchor at WLNS; Catherine Babcock, director of the Lansing Art Gallery; and Susan Bandes, director of the Kresge Art Museum at Michigan State University.

The artwork will remain on display at the MSUFCU headquarters until February 27. MSUFCU will be holding special extended hours to invite the public to come view the artwork. The lobby will be open late until 8 p.m. on February 16, 18, 19, 23 and 24. The MSUFCU headquarters is located at 3777 West Road, East Lansing, MI. Those who cannot make it in to MSUFCU are invited to view and vote for the artwork at www.msufcuart.com.

Each of the 14 participating high schools is allowed to showcase up to 10 pieces of artwork. Schools determine what artwork is displayed. This year's participating schools are Charlotte, DeWitt, East Lansing, Everett, Grand Ledge, Haslett, Holt, Lansing Catholic, Lansing Christian, Leslie, Mason, Okemos, Waverly and Williamston.
