January 21, 2011
Lansing ----- Bring a little color into your life this February during the fourth annual MSUFCU Student Art Exhibition. Artwork from 14 Lansing area high schools will be displayed and available for viewing beginning Feb. 2, 2011, at the Michigan State University Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) headquarters in East Lansing.
"This event is one of the highlights of our year," said April Clobes, executive vice president of MSUFCU, "The talent level of our local students, and the overwhelming support from the community, is just incredible."
The 14 participating high schools may showcase up to 10 pieces of artwork. This year's participating schools are Bath, DeWitt, East Lansing, Everett, Grand Ledge, Holt, Lansing Catholic, Lansing Christian, Mason, Okemos, Ovid-Elsie, St. Johns, Williamston and Waverly.
The public is invited to the lobby of the MSUFCU headquarters to view students' artwork and vote for their favorites. You can also view the artwork and vote online starting Feb. 1 at www.msufcuart.com. Votes help determine the People's Choice Award and a School Spirit Award, given to the high school that draws the most voters.
A panel of judges will also determine the Juried-Award winner, as well as Honorable Mentions. This year's panel includes: Catherine Babcock, director of the Lansing Art Gallery; Bob Hoffman, PR manager at the Wharton Center; and Leslie Donaldson, executive director of the Art Council of Greater Lansing.
Visit the MSUFCU headquarters at 3777 West Road, East Lansing beginning Feb. 2. Artwork will be displayed in the lobby during viewing hours: 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
Artwork will remain on display until Feb. 26. Those who cannot make it in to MSUFCU are invited to learn more about the exhibition, view artwork and vote for their favorites online at www.msufcuart.com.
