Lansing Publisher Makes Fashionable Donation

Dowling to Donate More than 100 Pairs of Shoes to Charity

November 23, 2010

Lansing ----- Tiffany Dowling's 2010 resolution list is nearly complete. When followers of Capital Area Women's Lifestyle Magazine (CAWLM) first heard of the publisher's plans to donate 30 pairs of shoes to charity in one month, they immediately stepped up to help.

Readers began bringing shoes to the magazine's headquarters, and what started as a few pairs soon grew into an entire trunk- load of gently used kicks. Now, more than 100 pairs later, Dowling is cleaning out her closet and making a big holiday donation at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, at Lansing's Hidden Treasures thrift store on Pennsylvania Avenue in Lansing. Don't miss Tiffany making the drive in a 2010 Corvette generously lent by the folks at Shaheen Chevrolet for the special occasion.

"It's the last big item on my list of 12 new things to try this year," Dowling said, "I've tried knitting, karaoke and even a polar plunge. Let me tell you, nothing's scarier than parting with my shoes."

Dowling is the chief conversation starter at Motion Marketing & Media (M3), a full-service marketing agency and public relations firm and co-hosts In Her Shoes talk radio show Sundays at noon on 1240 AM WJIM with Shelley Davis Mielock of Mieshel Image Consulting.

The shoe showdown, where Tiffany and Shelley put their shoes against each other in competition each week, is a big draw for the show, and it was one of the driving factors behind the decision to make the big donation.

"While I don't believe anyone can ever have too many shoes, it is the holiday season ... what better time to make a donation to those who could really use them?" said Dowling.
